Review of Tideland (2005) by Brian S — 24 Feb 2011
Put simply, Tideland is a disturbing film that deals with subject matter such as necrophilia, pedophilia, and drug use, all of which is in front of a little girl. The little girl is innocent and doesn't understand anything that is going on around her, often submerging herself into her imagination and fantasies.
Alice in Wonderland and Pan's Labyrinth have both used this before, but Tideland's world is so dark, perverse, and disgusting it is literally hard to sit through. This could be the most horrifying film I've seen.
