Review of Tideland (2005) by Andrew C — 26 May 2011
Definitive proof (if it were needed) that movie critics are arseholes - 29%, really? This is a unique and moving film - Gilliam's best for years - centred around a remarkable performance from the young lead Jodelle Ferland.
What may seem a demented clash of Alice in Wonderland and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre becomes a wonderful Southern Gothic of melancholy and imagination. Superb stuff.
