Review of Tideland (2005) by Brandon H — 21 Mar 2012
I get the idea that this is from the point of view of a girl who was raised in the worst possible circumstances and that this is the only world she's known, but even still it was just too unsettling for me.
Jeliza-Rose (Jodelle Ferland) plays the daughter of Noah (Jeff Bridges) & Queen Gunhilda (Jennifer Tilly), a precocious and imaginative girl who spends her days taking care of her parents by preparing their heroin fix and doing chores. When she's not playing nurse maid, she is lost in her own wild, and bizarre imagination. When her mother dies, she and her father move back to his home town in the country where living in such seclusion in wide open spaces allows the girls imagination to get the best of her. Be prepared for some very disturbing and unsettling scenes.
