Review of Tickled (2016) by Mike O — 05 Mar 2017
Tickled is directed by David Farrier and Dylan Reeve, and it's a documentary about a journalist who tries to find really weird things to make news of, and he come across competitive tickling that caught his eye and want to make an interview with them, but a producer of Jane O'Brien was refusing them, and was accusing him of being gay, which David Farrier didn't took seriously and instead look even further into it and not realizing about how big this company turned out to be.
I was sold on it when I saw the trailer for it for its bizarre subject that the journalist was researching on. I didn't really know how to get on it since I don't know when it was about to come out on DVD, but when I come across a movie article on Facebook that this movie was on HBO months later after school, then I got excited for it and watched the film for a few days as there were some stuff that I had to do, but I managed to put my mind into it and the documentary really lived up to my expectations.
Just when I thought that the trailer gave some important informations, the movie gave a lot of hidden twists that I didn't quite see coming. You know about David's determination to get some answers, while also keeping himself safe before any legal action has happened.
When the movie progresses, it gets more serious to the point of just unsettling to watch because of how disturbing it can be in terms of harassment cause it can get angering at times. It's really interesting to watch, and it has a lot of guts to actually show how competitive tickling works to the point of creating one also.
It's a risky movie to make, seeing from how far the company can do, but I'm glad they kept it smart and makes a terrific documentary out of it that hopefully gets some support from David Farrier.
