Review of THX 1138 (1971) by Dustin G — 25 Oct 2008
I can say with confidence that this will be George Lucas' weirdest output. At times dark and creepy, it's very unique visually. The story's not all that original, a man in the future goes against the system and fights for his freedom and to reunite with his 'other' which is basically his girlfriend.
But the story's not important. There is some great directing and special effects throughout. Nothing that stands up to some of the stuff in Star Wars, but great for the early 70's for an independant, small budget film.
Ultimately it's just a little on the weird, out there side, and I doubt I will go back to it, but it is well done and visually unique.
