Review of THX 1138 (1971) by Barbara P — 14 Mar 2009
Highly imaginitive and visually thrilling. When George Lucas had good ideas he hit everything out of the park (THX, Star Wars, Indiana Jones). Robert Duvall and Donald Pleasence are great, and there are just so many great ideas put on screen here.
Where movies like The Island and Logan's Run devolve somewhat into campy affairs, this is one utopia/dystopia that keeps the tone serious.
