Review of THX 1138 (1971) by Guillaume M — 06 Nov 2011
Although heavily inspired by George Orwell's 1984 THX 1138 stands on its own feet. The biggest difference for me was that I could easily follow the ongoings in Orwell's book and interpretation was quite easy but THX 1138 confused me quite a bit. Despite it's short runtime it's long-winded in the middle of the film due to a slow pace and the fact that little is going on.
All in all, very stylish with clean cuts, long sequences and steady camera. A low budget sci-fi film which never looks cheap at all thanks to its sterile look.
