Review of Thunderheart (1992) by Megan . — 24 May 2010
Hanay Geiogamah, director of the American Indian Studies Center at UCLA, said of this film that it was a little bit "over-written" and that it could have reached an even better potential if there had been a Native writer on the project.
That statement probably referring to the Native content and humor- and that it was a little bit overdone, and I could see that. In my opinion, I think even Graham Greene was feeling that in this film.
But aside from that, I thought this was actually a very entertaining movie. It sets the story around true happenings - the turmoil of the AIM movement in the 1970's - it's action packed, the story is interesting- and it IS funny, with Graham Greene givin' a cool and humorous performance and Ted Thin Elk adding his fair share of funny and warm moments to this film, as well.
Val Kilmer also does a good job in this movie; nice to see Sheila Tousey in there, too! Overall, an enjoyable flick.
