Review of Thunderbirds (2004) by Sai* S — 11 Aug 2007
There was sooooo many things wrong with this film!! AAAAHHHH!! As a huge fan of the original TV series, Thunderbirds had such big potential to be a fantastic movie but sadly, it completely screwed up! The Thunderbirds themselves, a central part of the TV show, were despicably underused, as were the Tracey brothers themselves (except Alan)- in fact, there was such a big lack of character development that you didn't care that they were there. Second, don't put in stuff that was never there; the thunderizer, thermat (or whatever his name is)- none of those were in the orignal and even more irritatingly...FAB1 DOES NOT FLY!!!!! JEFF WAS NEVER IN THE MISSIONS!!! BRAINS WAS NOT COMPLETELY SCREWBALL (plus he was the same age as the other sons as he was like a 6th son to jeff) and TIN TIN NEVER HAD POWERS!!!The plot was flimsy and the direction was poor. The only saving grace of the entire shambles was Lady P; Sophia Myles was perfect casting....
Overall, ouch ouch OUCH!!! Fans of the tv series will be sorely sorely disappointed. If they ever consider a sequel, they should take a cue from the creators of Hulk and completely re-brand and start over with this classic. And do the obvious....involve Jerry Anderson yea?
