Review of Thunderbirds (2004) by Richard V — 27 Mar 2009
Ah. The ships look good...but very clearly CGI. The plot is weak and little too close to cliche...and if that music soars one more time I'll thump the conductor, I will. On the other hand, it's not offensive, it has some good action.
Ben Kingsley is fun if inconsistent, as is Ron Cook and Sophia Myles is, well, hot as lady penelope. And she acts pretty much everyone else off the screen. It's a shame to put the kids at the forefront just to serve the demographic as this takes away from the potential of a live action Thunderbirds film.
A bit of a missed opportunity, probably destined to be a footnote in Gerry Anderson mythology.
