Review of Thunderball (1965) by Wesley G — 16 Nov 2009
And so comes the fourth outing for Mr. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, "Thunderball" is without a doubt one of the most fun Bond films ever comitted to film. After the success of "Goldfinger" it seemed that the producers had found their groove and re-employing director Terence Young (who helmed "Dr.
No" and "From Russia With Love"), they set about making "Thunderball" the biggest and best Bond to date. And that they have a good go at. It's got jet packs, evil agents disguised as women, high pressure hoses out of an Aston Martin, and that's all within the opening 10 minutes! The story is a great tale of stolen atom bombs and eye-patch wearing bad guys which gives Connery ample chance to bed nearly every woman on screen as well as kill hundreds of henchmen underwater and on land.
It is enormous fun and sets the standard for the Bonds to come. Fun, full of action and full of Bond. Thunderbrilliant!
