Review of Thunderball (1965) by Andrew E — 06 Mar 2010
It's just not that good I'm afraid. I just hate the underwater scenes. They are slow and very dull but on the other side the cast are very entertaining and work well with a very cheeky script.
The women are beautiful, maybe the best of Connery's leading Ladies. Luciana Paluzzi is so innocent and yet so evil all at once. If God and the Devil collaborated on the design of a person you would get Luciana Paluzzi. Claudine Auger is jaw droppingly gorgeous as Domino and a very enduring actress also. Adolfo Celi is a real nasty bastard but somewhat two dimensional, a poor follow up to the Goldfinger character. The blue screen shots are awful and Rik Van Nutter's Felix is very forgettable. This could have been so much more but in stead chooses to half bond film half aquatic documentary.
