Review of Thunderball (1965) by Ben T — 20 Dec 2014
The first three Bond films are classic movies which set the Bond standard, so it's a disappointment that after the masterpiece that was Goldfinger the quality severely dipped and we got Thunderball.
Now that's not to say that Thunderball's a bad movie because it isn't. This has a good performance from Sean Connery, a great final fight and one of the best Bond girls/ henchman. However the film is boring, really there are bits that seriously drag, and I found myself almost falling asleep.
The film uses a lot of sped up editing and jump cuts which makes it look really cheap. Also one of the suspense scenes involving a massage table is laughably awful. Overall this is pretty overrated but it isn't terrible.
B-.
