Review of Thumbsucker (2005) by John W — 29 Sep 2007
A quiet little movie about--take a guess--a teen applying for colleges who has a fifth-digit addiction. The story seems like the classic, independent example of a bunch of random elements that are brought together into a story.
Where else would a thumbsucking teen, an ex-football player dad, a nurse mom obssessed with meeting a famous actor through a cereal box contest, and a hippie dentist come together as one. This movie might not exactly be everybody's cup of tea, since the movie never really seems like any more then a dream, or it seems to have a very simple message to say (this is for those people who care about having an important moral in their movies).
But still, a fun(ny) little movie.
