Review of Thumbsucker (2005) by Winfield W — 03 Jan 2010
The only problem I had with the movie version of Thumbsucker is because of how good the book read. I understand the entire book vs movie argument but with Thumbsucker dialogue was changed more than scenes were changed. The dialogue being changed affected the 'cuteness' of the story.
Most of the actors were good. I only had real issues with Reeves. His portrayal of any character just sucks. He cannot act and his role was not demanding or anything. So he sucked where he didn't need to suck.
I do recommend the movie but it is with some hesitation. If you are a reader pick up the book. If you skip all the books than you will have no issues with the problems I had with the screen version...well except Reeves.
