Review of Throw Down (2004) by Soumo M — 13 Jun 2007
I'm actually surprised this film garnered the praise that it did -not that it wasn't deserved. It's just that fickle fans tend to overlook things like character development when the plot is seemingly weak.
As a judo player, I was able to see past the simplistic plot to the character story line that really addresses teacher-student, old friend and rival, and inner demon, relationships. The judo was spot on.
Hopefully I'll see it with subtitles one day.
