Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Lorenzo V — 08 Jun 2008
Not one of Kurosawa's best, in my opinion, but still a remarkably adept transposition of Macbeth to 16th-century Japan. The imagery, inspired by Noh theater, is simple yet strikingly evocative. And at its core, Shakespeare's tale of bloodlust and ambition is intact.
