Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Rod A — 26 Jul 2008
While the camera work is electric, the plot and acting aren't as riveting as one would hope. Because this is a feudal Japanese version of Macbeth, we know what's going to happen all along. There's no suspense and no real transformation of any of the characters that we can latch onto.
Again, from a shot composition and camera technique point of view, this film is striking.
