Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Asen B — 06 Oct 2009
If I was hard pressed to tell you my favorite Akira Kurosawa picture, I'm not sure I could do it, but 'Throne of Blood' would be one of the films high on my list. I'll be the first to admit that Shakespeare can be rather difficult to be entertained by, but Kurosawa is one of the few that is able to interpret his works and having it be as meaningful and engaging as is was meant to be.
'Throne of Blood' is available through Criterion Collection (as are most Kurosawa pictures), which has a terrific transfer of the film and great box art as well. This film is well worth you're purchase.
