Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Luiserghio M — 03 Dec 2010
Only if the trees themselves move!
Throne of Blood being a shakespeare adaptation, has the advantage of not using the shakespearian language, allowing the film to appeal to much more than just people who love shakespearian language or those who can understand it. But it proves how relevant shakespeare was and still is to this day, so it will please shakespeare lovers as well.
With the virtuosity of my favorite director behind the lenses, the film is nothing more than memorable scene after memorable scene, I wish my school teachers showed me this adaptation of Macbeth in school over the versions they chose to show me.
Toshiro Mifune does a fantastic and memorable job as Washizu (Macbeth) and the evil Asaji (lady Macbeth) will haunt you with the sound of her robes dragging on the floor.
Do yourself a favor if you haven't watched this great film yet, do so, your bound to like it.
