Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Marco V — 19 Dec 2010
Shakespeare's Macbeth + Kurosawa = Throne of Blood!!
Look upon the ruins Of the castle of delusion, Haunted only now by the spirits of those who perished. A scene of carnage born of consuming desire, Never changing now and throughout eternity.
It is Strange? How "Ambiton", "Power" and "Fear" can destroy a MAN soul itself throughout his most inner desires and dreams. How WOMEN can easily corrupt MEN, and how the Desire of power can destroy our own friendships and Loved ones. Kurosawa has done it again.. He created what I think is the best Translation of a play of Shakespeare to the "Big Screen". Toshiro Mifune is Fantastic as Washizu. The entire Film is perfect. A creepy Masterpiece.
