Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Adrian B — 03 Mar 2011
Five for five: though "Throne of Blood" is based on Macbeth, I really don't care because Shakespeare is not all that interesting to me. However, the entertainment value of this fine film from the master Kurosawa is what I do care.
It a hypnotic, spellbinding piece of work. The film follows of two samurai soldiers who are crowned leaders of a fortress, but unfortunately, one of them is persuaded by a entranced woman that the other will and is currently betraying him.
It is exciting, intense, quick moving thriller directed by the legendary director Kurosawa and another great film on his resume. It is almost as bizarre as his breakthrough film from 1950 "Rashomon.
" What a wonderful work!
