Review of Three Kings (1999) by Daniel S — 17 Feb 2009
A hyper-kinetic, visually imaginative, conceptually well-realized, and darkly humorous, for the lack of a better term, "war film". Russel's penchant for writing extreme oddball characters works wonderfully within this picture, especially Wahlberg and Jonze's characters.
Three Kings is filled with enough smart writing, great performances and frenetic, eye-opening direction to please the analytical film viewer, but is also packed with immense amounts pulse-pounding action to keep the adrenalin junkie on the edge of his seat.
A great film.
