Review of Three Kings (1999) by I Don't Know W — 06 Nov 2011

I didnt't care too much about this film when I saw it some years ago but then I read lately how critically acclaimed it was. So, I decided to rewatch it - an easy decision, as it's part of my dad's DVD collection and starring George Clooney.

It couldn't change my mind though. I certainly have a more mature perspective on it and noticed the complexity of the scenario and the interesting character mix you usually not gonna see from a bunch of soldiers on a heist for gold.

But it's the attitude which is the main problem for me. Russell definitely tried to create something by mixing war and comedy and drama and he even succeeded but the final result doesn't appeal too much to me.

There's just too much implausibility in the scenario and the whole film felt too much like a spoof that I could call it a serious drama.
