Review of Three Kings (1999) by Lewis E — 03 Sep 2012
A mix of comedy/satire and war drama that is blended together extremely well. More impressed by the deep Anti-Bush references, outlining the huge faults and contradictions in America's part in the Gulf War, than the humour.
Some displays of excellent directorial work with the action scenes being shot in their own unique way (well, slow motion but I haven't really seen it done like this before) and in particularly the re-imagines of the character's loved ones being bombed in light of the effects US bombing had on the people they were trying to rescue.
Even though these techniques were only used twice within a short space of time, they were powerful nonetheless and therefore worth remembering. However, I wasn't blown away by the male leads, offering satisfactory performances nonetheless.
A very strong three stars.
