Review of Three Identical Strangers (2018) by Megan H — 04 Nov 2018
I thought the documentary was interesting enough. There are no real twists and turns, since you could pretty much guess what happened from the trailer. Nevertheless, I did enjoy hearing their stories. Then, I got to the end when the filmmakers decided to blame the father for one of the triplet's later troubles.
It made me absolutely sick to my stomach. While the filmmakers are doing their best to portray the psychologists in the story as evil, they do something that easily rivals that cruelty by taking a man who has suffered through one of the worst things that could happen to a parent and then telling him "It's your fault.
" This just left me absolutely heartbroken for that father. Not to mention perpetuating outdated psychology as if parenting styles leads to mental illness.
