Review of Three Identical Strangers (2018) by Devaughn B — 16 Aug 2018
This is a fantastic documentary film about a set of American triplets who were separated at birth, adopted by different families, all completely unaware that each child had brothers. The way this documentary, directed by Tim Wardle, uses dramatized reenactments in the beginning to show how the first brother realizes something is wrong, it is done so wonderfully.
If you watch the trailer for this documentary (which I highly recommend doing) then you'll see that it is does not focus solely on the triplets finally meeting. Without giving it away here because I really do hope you check this one out and experience it, this documentary and the story of these brothers takes a very dark turn.
There are so many circumstances you learn about, psychological in nature and so unsettling to hear about from the people directly involved. You'll laugh for the first half hour or so; the bond these brothers shared and their pure joy, so infectious, and then the story essentially turns into a devastating psychological horror.
Definitely find this one where you can, one of the best of the year no doubt!
