I am going through a down period, I guess. I haven't been reading or writing much on RT, so if ya miss me, then try to live on, ok? heh heh.

In that spirit...

3 Days of the Condor was an awesome surprise. The acting performances are tremendous, and the writing which avoids all slippage into trite formulas, even for the day, leaves one with satisfaction. An underrated film from the standpoint that I have never heard of it (a rather loose definition admittedly), it transmits the feeling of paranoia and moral ambiguity in government to good effect, with a great open ending.

Being John Malvovich was also a very entertaining film, and the hand of Kaufman was obvious. The premise reminded me of multiplicity, and some fictional thrusts I had made small progress towards. Some may criticize that it is "weird for the sake of being weird", and perhaps for them they would be correct, but where the movie started to look like it would falter at beginning, it improved to be fun. Imagine Cameron Diaz allowing herself to be made to look unattractive...heh heh. I guess given her history of experimenting, it shouldn't be a huge surprise.

Catherine Keener really put on the best show among some fine work from Cusack, Orson Bean, and Malkovich.

Ginger Snaps 2 managed to keep some of the good dark comedy that made me like the first one, but overall I felt it dragged on too long, and was not different enough from the original to warrant a positive score.

I did like the ending shots, however.

Super Size Me was tragically funny, which some people would call (as I have in the past) a definition of "camp". This time though I mean you to take the phrase literally. I don't need to say much about the message, but the fact Morgan Spurlock saw it through was both dedicated and disgusting.

It brings to mind that most of us know a whole lot of information about what is bad for us in our societies, but many of us do not pay enough heed to it. I'd be interested in a film exploring that...

Lastly I speak of a Canadian movie that doesn't make the database...I am starting to think it is a conspiracy (heh heh)...A View Of Terror. Shannon Doherty plays a woman that needs space from her obsessed love interest, who can't quite accept her moving out.

No sooner does she do so than she begins to get stalked by a creepy guy who totally invades her life. Who is it? Who cares.

Shannon is good looking. 4/10.

Lame reviews, but this entry has been open on my computer for about three days, so I just spit it out. heh heh.
