Review of Three Days of the Condor (1975) by Peter T — 03 Nov 2009
Best contemporary espionage film ever made. Houseman, Robertson perfect. Redford surprisingly believable. Von Sydow steals both the movie and the imagination. Writing and posited story are the most accurate depiction of the US CIA ever made in any film: his is one of the few films still referred to in actual training. The Third Man and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy are the only treatments of espionage that are more compelling in English.
Most beautiful for what it doesn't do: romanticize America.
The World Trade Center is a major character in the movie.
