Dixon!

Holy shit, what a genuinely good movie. I love it when an experience is this well put together. Left me feeling incredibly satisfied about nearly everything.

I was invested in every scene, in every character. I adored the depth and humanity that was written into everyone in this story. All the main actors, and even some of the minor ones, really gave it their all. Solid, beautiful performances all around. We need more characters like these. Characters that feel human, that are whole and complex beings.

The story pulled me in from the get-go. It didn't waste any time, every moment in this movie felt right and in its place, a part of a larger complete whole. The tonal shifts felt amazing and human. The comedy was done just right, the drama was done just right, the mix in between was great and felt natural. I'm actually really satisfied by how well all these tones meshes together here. Shows they did a good job. The story also shifts and progresses in such an engaging way, but steers clear of an ending that's tied up too well. It's so confident in what it aims to achieve. You could see that it's a project that was done after the people involved were completely satisfied with what they had. It looks like a great passion project.

The cinematography was unexpectedly gorgeous, yet subtle. The songs complimented the movie well. The visuals were all very crisp and alive. The editing helped tie this movie together as well as it ended up. No complaints here. Loved it.

Sam Rockwell better win that damn supporting actor Oscar.
