Review of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) by Timothy T — 16 Apr 2018
Implausible and tasteless. Our heroine has a house and some land by the roadside (apparently) and not much money, so why doesn't she start off with a home-made billboard? Why, when she is financially struggling, does she commercially rent one? And then actually rent THREE? How do the three wrecked, rotten and broken billboards suddenly get restored (at,obviously, a far greater cost than she has paid to the advertising firm)? Maybe I am being too literal, but this was worse than some of the poorest 40s B-movies (which at least had few pretensions).
It failed to say anything serious about sexual violence either. Nasty.
