Review of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) by Kanet007 — 05 Mar 2018
For a movie that deals so brilliantly with the complexity of interpersonal relationships that address, but contradict established stereotypes, there are a couple of lazy moments that detract from what could have been a brilliant movie. One particularly lazy moment is a speech that essentially tries to establish the Hollywood stance on the Catholic religion. The town priest was only a prop in a scene so that Frances McDormand could deliver a speech which, although poignant and funny, was so obviously premeditated and could never have been delivered in the surprise of the moment.
Beyond this moment and a few other cringe-worthy statements, the movie is very well done.
