Review of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) by Elzo S — 09 Mar 2018
Should be 2 1/2 stars. Just ok. Very poor dialogue, half of the script is just four cuss words repeated over and over. I never heard such repeated language even in the military. Improbable story line, ruined by bad casting (the sheriff is married to a beautiful Brit, 20 years younger than he? He is spitting cancerous blood, then makes love to his wife?) and trying to be cute and failing (multiple "cute" after death letters).
Watching Mcdormand scowl for two hours is very painful. Loved Rockwell, but I think he would have been arrested for his behavior. A non-ending because they ran out of ideas. This is Not Fargo. The screen play should not have been nominated for an Oscar, neither should Mcdormond have been nominated for best actress.
Improbable violence and fight scenes. Vulgar language between mother and children. Totally dysfunctional family. Dinklage was good. Maybe I will change this to two stars....
