So awful it hurts, THREE is the only film directed by renowned American writer James Salter. Starring a very young and thin Sam Waterston as well as Robie Porter as two American friends in Europe both in love with a mad cap Brit played by Charlotte Rampling.

Rampling has become such a seasoned actor that it's sad to be reminded what an awful actress she truly was earlier in her career. She looks stunning though as do the amazing French and Italian locations.

Salter crams the film with vapid dialogue and a mashup of French New Wave, 60s arthouse, and techniques that try desperately to be hip. It ain't hip. It ain't cool. In fact, THREE is the kind of film that will truly make you detest the late 60s.
