Review of Threads (1985) by Private U — 17 Jul 2008
A really intense almost documentary-feeling movie. Shows in plain, unembellished examples the horrors of nuclear war. This movie almost made me sick to my stomach the first time I watched it because it's just so depressing.
The scenario from the movie actually very easily could have happened during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. I guess we can consider ourselves lucky it didn't. Jesus I feel like I need to take a shower after thinking about how much of a downer this movie is.
I guess it attained its goal. The movie equivalent to reading Hiroshima, just that there is no happy ending and unexpectedly quick recovery from the damage done.
