Review of Threads (1985) by Mathew G — 17 Aug 2008
You have to see this at least once in your life. In it´s own way, it´s a torture to watch it, but fascinating at the same time. Filmed at the height of the fear of nuclear disaster, it´s 2 hours of heart-rending agony, as the the viewer follows the fate of 2 families before, during and years after a nuclear bomb is dropped on Sheffield.
The BBC didn´t hold back with this one (notice the blood dripping down the stairs of the hospital, as the nursing staff are unable to treat the endless number of casualties). Well acted, this is probably the closest you´ll want to get to the real thing.
