Review of Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021) by Tvjerry — 17 May 2021
This drama from writer/director Taylor Sheridan places a classic “escape the bad guys” scenario in the path of a fast-moving forest fire. Angelina Jolie stars as a smoke jumper who ends up helping a 12-year-boy elude 2 vicious killers.
Jolie does fine, but that long hair and her glamorous demeanor interfere with acceptance of her as a toughie. More impressive is the performance by Finn Little as the desperate boy. Even though the plot hits predictable points, Sheridan keeps involvement solid, while creating some strong action beats.
The raging blazes are especially impressive.
