Let's start with the good stuff about this movie.

First, Thor: The Dark World had me on the edge of my seat from the get-go. I was super absorbed in the movie and the next thing I know, the movie had ended! The pacing was perfect - It was just right in the sense that I could follow and understand what was happening without being bored. The storyline tied in very well with Thor and The Avengers; there were links between all three movies.

Second, the CGI was super well-done. It was super realistic.

Third, I really love all the characters and the interaction between them. All of the characters had some sort of story behind them and they were not just one dimensional. Kudos to the writing team for doing such a great job! Loki and Thor had such an interesting love-hate relationship going on. Loki is such a complex character - I never know what's he thinking and if he's being sincere. Darcy was such a supportive companion to Jane; she knows when to push Jane and when to let Jane take the lead.

However, I was disappointed in many aspects of the movie. There was so much hype surrounding this movie. I did not watch this movie during the release weekend. There were many reviews floating around and most of the ones I read raved about the movie. As such, I had really high expectations about this movie. Furthermore, I watched quite a number of interviews with Tom Hiddleston and I found him so charismatic. So I had really high expectations about him too. But alas, I was disappointed probably because of my unrealistic expectations.

First, Thor 2 was a much darker and less light-hearted movie than Thor 1. It was such a drastic difference that I had a difficult time wrapping my mind round this and I just did not enjoy Thor 2 as much as Thor 1.

Second, Loki was not as charismatic as the image I had in my mind. I just had too high and unrealistic an expectation.

Third, what's with the scene of Thor bathing himself? That was so unnecessary! Seriously, I'm sure that people want to watch Thor: The Dark World not because of Chris Hemsworth's body. I rolled my eyes when I saw that scene!

All in all, Thor: The Dark World is a decent sequel to Thor and The Avengers and it's definitely worth a watch. I'll recommend this to fans of superheroes movies and people who've watcher Thor and The Avengers and liked them.
