Review of Thor: The Dark World (2013) by Mark H — 25 Feb 2015

This was an okay movie, not bad but not good either. The comedy went overboard a few times, venturing into moment of ridiculousness, this was particulary notcable since the movie tries to be dramatic but the heartwrenching scenes happen to characters that we really have no stake in. there was lots of exposition to explain the villains weapon several times, over and over.

Thor himmself was great, sadly it's the Earth characters with a by the numbers performance from Portman that hold the movie back. None of the action or characters outside of the established ones really stand out.

I'm sure it will get a high rating due to being Marvel with legions of fans who have a 10/10 review waiting to sign, but sadly it's just average. entertaining yes but no more than any other by the numbers action flick.
