Review of Thor: The Dark World (2013) by Christopher S — 22 Jul 2014
Thor's sophmore solo outing is much more action packed and has much more Asgard than the original. Thor seems to have lost all of his character an ego from the first film, which is a shame. The same can't be said about Loki though. He was the life of the movie for what little screen time he had. You would just swear that Thor was shot with a tranquilizer before every scene. It feels like Hemsworth (Thor) doesn't even want to be in this film.
Minor gripes aside, this movie looks beautiful! Asgard is brimming with life. This movie really puts special effects to good use. People looking for action will also not be disapointed, because "The Dark World" packs a punch. The original Thor from 2011 was much more grounded and character driven whereas this entry is much more visual and magical.
This will definitely tide Marvel fans over until the next Marvel movie comes out this summer. "Thor: The Dark World" is one of the better solo Marvel movies to date.
