Review of Thor: The Dark World (2013) by Daniel F — 08 Aug 2014

A solid enough sequel to Kenneth Branagh's 2011 hit, Thor TDW has a darker look but manages to retain enough humour and fun in order for it to succeed. Director Alan Taylor does a sturdy enough job and shows his style, which he established on Game of Thrones and after a bit of a flat start things soon pick up to a suitably break neck pace.

Hiddleston steals the show as Loki and there's some great moments here between him and Hemsworth's Thor as they put their brotherly conflict to one side and team up to take down Christopher Eccleston's evil dark elve Malekith.

Overall a very good addition to the Marvel movie franchise which stands out from the others due to it's other worldly setting and feel. Roll on Thor 3!
