Review of Thor: The Dark World (2013) by Sarita K — 24 Oct 2014
Thor: The Dark World was a fun movie, but I found myself often wondering what was going on and confused about the motivations of the main villain. Also, I found the story hard to follow. What were the dark elves at the beginning fighting with the Asgardians about? What/who were Thor and the Warriors 3 fighting for? It had been a while since I'd seen the previous movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so I forgot why Loki was imprisoned. A few reminders/flashbacks would've actually been helpful.
Of all the super heroes in this universe, Thor is probably my favorite (and Jane is my favorite love interest). Chris Hemsworth is great in the title role (and really nice to look at :P) He had some great scenes with his father, mother, Loki, and of course Jane.
I have a similar complaint about the previous film, which is that the sidekicks (The Warriors 3) are underutilized. I really feel like they needed to be given more to do and more backstory in these films.
Overall, I enjoyed it. I may need to watch it again after rewatching the other films in this universe to fully understand what's going on.
