Review of Thor: The Dark World (2013) by Gerardo R — 01 Apr 2015
One can definitely see the difference after Kenneth Branaugh directed the first one. A lot of the quality and character study was sacrificed this time around for an ambitious and poorly delivered plot.
One can see how the special effects take over in contrast to character development. There is also a lot of goofy humor that is poorly integrated into the film. The continuity between scenes and characters seems much more haphazard.
It still remains an entertaining film, but does not deliver anything beyond a superficial experience. It is more of a popcorn flick, although it constantly teases the viewer with more intriguing possibilities, but never delivers in this film.
Marvel knows how to hook you for the next film.
