Review of Thor: The Dark World (2013) by Brian G — 19 May 2016
Thor: The Dark World still gives fans quite a lot of surprises and laughs, but it is unfortunately lacking of any coherent or sensible plot. Its new villain, a war-mongering dark elf, who wants to send the universe back into darkness is very bland, while the third act loses all sense of danger in a matter of minutes.
However; the upside to all of these are the performances of Rene Russo and Tom Hiddleston. The latter proves himself to be much more untrustworthy, while the former is a powerful, loving figure among all of the characters.
The Asgardians' respect to her unfortunate demise is also the most beautiful and moving scene throughout the film. Thor also comes off as the mighty hero once again, but he grows more and more affectionate of the world he left behind and his mortal love, Jane Foster.
While this may be overshadowed by several Marvel movies, the second installment of Thor continues to smite hard and excite audiences with astonishing visuals and fine action sequences, jumping from one dimension to another.
