Review of Thor: Tales of Asgard (2011) by John N — 18 Jun 2011
That sword has taken its last life.
Thor is the prince of Asgard and considered the clown prince due to his staged battles for the people. Thor is sick of the people secretly laughing at him behind his back and decides to join a mission to recover a sword. Thor's brother, Loki, is a magician that joins him to help him recover the artifact; unfortunately, in obtaining the sword Thor may start a war between his people and the rightful owners of the sword.
"Can you fight?".
"Yes, if we must.".
Sam Liu, director of Planet Hulk, All-Star Superman, Hulk vs., Batman/Superman: Public Enemies, and Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, delivers Thor: Tales from Asgard. The storyline for this picture is okay, the action scenes are outstanding, and the script is appropriate for the content. The animation is a bit too cartoonish and seemed on par with Cartoon Network. The voices include Rick Gomez, Matthew Wolf, Tara Strong, and Chris Britton.
"You do your brother no favor, Loki. Stop protecting him.".
I have been a fan of the recent cartoon comic genre movies. This was the most disappointing one I have viewed to date. I do not think the theme with such a young Thor worked for me. The action scenes were remarkable and well portrayed, but the overall premise was just average. This is not a must see picture within this genre.
