Review of Thor: Ragnarok (2017) by Melvin C — 23 Dec 2017
After dragging for the first few movies, Thor is reborn. Arguably the weakest of the Avengers in terms of audience appreciation, Thor was perceived to be an inelastic character. He has loosened his act, and audiences find him more relatable in Ragnorok.
The crossover with Thor, while a bit too convenient, was an interesting twist. The hulk, asa character get further developed, as the Hulk begins with complete control over Banner. Thor's family, with the exception of Oden (Anthony Hopkins), is not exciting.
The daughter's character could be interesting, but the performance was weak, as was Loki's. Neither of Thor's siblings brought much to the table. They seemed unfeeling cogs, following a script, rather than interesting, dynamic characters.
Despite those deficiencies, the movie is still an excellent addition to the MCU and gives hope to an otherwise weak Thor franchise.
