Review of Thor: Ragnarok (2017) by Robert B — 26 Dec 2017
A complete tonal shift for the Thor franchise; and while a bit jarring, it goes a long way to improve this character and make the universe he inhabits feel more alive.
There were some issues I had with the use of the villain Hela; but that isn't something unique to just Thor movies in the MCU. I hope they get to use her again like they did Loki; because there is so much untapped potential with a character like Hela.
Overall, I think the story suffered a bit as screen time that otherwise would have been put toward enriching the plot & background was instead given to jokes and one liners. That being said though, this was a very fun film and stands as my favorite of the Thor trilogy.
4/5 Stars for a fun film.
