Review of Thor: Ragnarok (2017) by Nandan T — 02 Feb 2018

Now this is the Thor film we deserve! Having not seen the previous two Thor films, I was not much excited for Thor: Ragnarok. I mean, who cares about Thor, right?
Well, after seeing Ragnarok, I have to say, 'I do care!'. Marvel just took their least favorite superhero and made him great. How did they do this? Here's what I think: complete 180 degree character change!
His hammer? Gone! His father? Gone! He's all alone (except for Hulk). As if that's not enough, on top of that he has to deal with the Goddess of Death (not really) Hela, played spectacularly by Cate Blanchett. She is deadly, vicious and clearly not messing around when she breaks Thor's hammer with a single hand.
The action, the visuals, acting, the love-hate relationship between Hulk and Thor, everything works. Director Taika Waititi has redeemed himself and revived Thor again. He brings such a lightheartedness approach which never really slows down the film and never gets boring.
If I would list some issues, it would be that Hela is kind of 'overpowered', we could say. I don't know how she can summon weapons out of thin air.
Thor: Ragnarok is the Thor film you should see, even if you have not seen the previous two Thor films. You will be a little lost, but the it will be definitely worth your while.
Highly Recommended!
