Except for a few bright moments on the second half - and the charm of the excellent cast, Thor Ragnarok was very disappointing; don't like the ridiculous comedy flavor given to it. A sprinkle of smart humor would have been enough and welcome; here the humor is often silly and forced, and it ruins the magic and the pace of the story.

I feel the same happened with Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which scares me, because we are getting a new generation of filmmakers that don't understand the epic appeal of the comic genre. It's like they were aiming the movie at children, and even children deserve better, like Tolkien once explained.

We underestimate children by giving them watered down stories and rosy colored ones. Now we are adding bad taste humor to the recipe. After a while, in Ragnarok the characters and the story plot no longer feels believable or convincing; the jokes are sometimes so distracting you get the sense that even the protagonists don't take the story seriously.

It seems the director took the meaning of the word "comic" in too much of a literal sense. I loved the previous Thor films; and what I loved about them was precisely the mature storytelling, the epic flavor, the sense of fear against the forces of evil that were being confronted, and how the heroes were going to be able to forestall them.

I have respect for this website, the reviews and consensus are usually convincing, trustful. But I am so surprised at so many fresh tomatoes reviews here, praising the very traits that make of this film not funny or entertaining, but rather a clownish circus parody.
