Review of Thor: Ragnarok (2017) by Franzhcritic — 28 Jun 2018
It's rarely often that the sequel is better than the first film, let alone the third installment, but 'Ragnarok' is a pleasant exception of "three is the charm". Its emphasis on humour dilutes the melodrama that accompanies fantasy movies whose main characters have a British accent, and instead places more support on the fantastic chemistry between Chris Hemsworth and Tom Middleton, who is always the breakout whenever he gets a chance to play Loki.
It also has a more dynamic villain and an ending without a ex machina that saves the day. The ending leaves as much doubt as it does hope. For a more comical entry, it also packs a heavier dramatic punch that first two.
